Thanks to ideal growing conditions, extra-long staple length and hand harvesting, Peruvian pima cotton is the world's finest pima, prized for its exceptional softness and brilliant luster, as well as its durability. One touch is all it takes to show you just how luxurious a cotton can be.
In order to grow exceptional cotton, you need exceptional growing conditions. Peruvian pima cotton grows lush and lovely along the northern coastal valleys of Peru. There, the rich soil soaks up just the right amount of moisture at near-perfect equatorial temperatures. The result is cotton with a silky luster and an unbelievably soft hand. With any natural fiber, the longer and smoother the filament, the softer the hand. Because of its exceptionally long, 1-3/8" staple length (ordinary cotton fibers measure between 1/2" to 3/4"), Peruvian pima cotton is silky soft, extremely durable, and highly resistant to pilling.
Today just about all cotton around the world is being picked by machines. With almost only one exception: The Peruvian Handpicked Pima Cotton.
The Peruvian Pima Cotton used for Petidoux pajamas is still being picked by hand. This way the cotton plants are better protected as well as the nature and environment in which it grows. Further to that the handpicking does not break the cotton but protects it and makes it longer and softer.
In addition to this exceptional fiber, the processing is as well crucial in order to achieve a “Premium Quality Pajamas ”; from the spinning of the cotton through processing of the yarns till production of our finished, luxuriously soft pajamas.
Unlike other man-made fibers, our pima cotton does not cause allergies, making it also an excellent choice for people with skin sensitivities. Furthermore, it is extremely soft and get softer, wash after wash, a perfect hand-me-down item.
The end result makes simply the best pajamas for children.

Bonne nuit, les petits...
We make our pajamas tight and snugged to eliminate any risk of accidental burns.
"What is the purpose of the children’s sleepwear flammability standards? To protect children from burns, these rules require that children’s sleepwear must be flame resistant and self- extinguish if a flame from a candle, match, lighter or a similar item causes it to catch fire. The rules cover all children’s sleepwear above size 9 months and up to size 14 and require that (1) the fabric and garments must pass certain flammability tests; or (2) be "tight fitting" as defined by specified dimensions."

NO SCRATCHY TAG:
Children don't like anything scratchy, itchy, sticking out... We listen to them and stamp all the required information on the back of the garments.
No need to wake up in the middle of the night looking for a pair of scissors!
LUXURIOUSLY SOFT COTTON:
We use the world-famous Pima cotton for both its softness and durability.
Our exclusive fabrics are pre-washed, pre-shrunk and then pajamas are cut and sewn in one of the best manufacturing facilities in South America. Our process is therefore totally vertically integrated to minimize both costs and problems, maximizing our strong quality control.
FAIR LABOR LAWS:
We work very closely with our Peruvian factories' managers to assure fair labor and manufacturing practise are respected. We also assure that our factory workers have fair and regular week-days hours, pleasant working environment, will not work during week-ends or any Peruvian national holidays.
Our whimsical prints are exclusively designed in house in our offices in Manhattan.
Strongly inspired and influenced by the owner's two boys, Petidoux's prints are a combination of modern life and vintage influence.
This is how our "Gingerbread Men" and " Balloons" prints became best sellers..
Petidoux is a French made-up word, which means small ("petit" pronounced [peh-TEE] and soft ("doux" [doo]....
I started Petidoux , just as my first born turn 3 year old, to provide parents with a classical offering of luxury pajamas and play sets, made from the best available Peruvian Pima cotton, modern patterns, retro inspired, and, above all, the softest touch anywhere. I also use a special Pantone's gold yellow color for my Petidoux logo because it's a both a great spring color and the color of my favorite flower, a beautifully delicate buttercup flower or " bouton d'or".
I have been sewing and knitting since I was a child with both my Italian Grandmother and my French mother. I made many projects both for home and at school but by the time I had to go to University, my pragmatic father sent me to study Finance and Economics, worked on both LIFFE and for a great consultancy firm... But before starting Petidoux, I learnt to make both men and women’s hats as a milliner at Worth & Worth, in Manhattan.
