What is Baby Alpaca?
The first shearing of an alpaca is called baby alpaca. It is known as one of the softest and most prestigious fiber in the world. It is considered as a supreme variety due to its durability and lightweight structure.
Baby alpaca is warmer than wool, but has a very soft and glossy feeling similar to silk.
Generally, baby alpaca is not classified by the age of the alpaca, but with the fineness of the alpaca wool.
- Alpacas originate in the Mountains in South America. They are members of the camelid family.
- Alpacas are much smaller than llamas.
- They are 3 feet tall and weigh around 100-180 pounds.
